How it Started

Born and raised in Uganda, Esther’s major burden is the lack of a culture of discipline in her home country, Uganda. While at the Institute for National Transformation (INT) in London in 2011-2012, she learned that the transformation of Africa and any nation will always start with having disciplined people and justice.

The INT Director General International Prof. Vincent Anigbogu one day stated, “Those who really love her (Africa) will go back and beautify her.” These words stuck with Esther and she resolved never to be a part of those people who complain about all the wrong things in Africa but do not take any responsibility to address them. As a result, the Character Aroma Project was birthed.

Esther started off by conducting personal development and leadership training sessions for a team of church leaders in Jinja. This took place once a month on a Saturday and run for the whole of 2013. During 2014, these leaders started conducting the similar training for different groups of people. On 30 January 2015, Character Aroma Project was established as a non-profit organisation and was registered under the Non-Governmental Organisations Registration Act CAP. 113 of the Government of Uganda.
